SOMATIC ECSTATIC DANCE
Friday 21st March 6pm at Yoke Folkestone.
Somatic Ecstatic Dance is a guided & supported journey of exploring free movement. Through storytelling, music and somatics you will have the chance to meet creativity, ecstasy and connection through the dance. Ecstatic dance can be an opportunity for self-recognition, an awakening to our true nature through movement. Without the restrictions of containers or rules we can find our own authentic expression, allowing life and all that is to move through us.
Trance states have been and continue to be a critical part of being human and I am looking forward to creating a space where we can come together and be curious about moving our bodies. There is nothing to get right and free movement can be anything from lying on the floor in stillness to finding our biggest and most creative expressions. You can expect a supportive and trauma informed space and an epic, carefully curated soundscape as we land into the new year.
Your space holder…
Ami Robertson (they/them): Trauma informed somatic therapist and embodied movement practitioner. Ami has a deep curiosity for life, the mystery and our human experience. Most of their work is walking alongside people as they explore their trauma and do the great work of meeting themselves. They work with many modalities and embodied movement and dance is one of their favourite ways to gather people to explore to the arts of remembering & reclaiming. Ami’s work is in line with the cyclical nature of life, deepening into the relentless truth of death & rebirth.
The cost is £14 and spaces are limited to 8 people.
We will gather in the studio at Yoke, Folkestone.
