GRIEF CIRCLE online

Thursday 29th May at 7pm until 8.30pm UK time.

OUR GRIEF IS OUR LOVE, OUR GRIEF IS OUR ALIVENESS…

And it requires regular space to be witnessed, expressed and moved.
Grief is not just for when we lose people, although this grief is deeply important, it’s more than that, it’s something we are continually experiencing. Especially during these times of Polycrisis. If you choose to live a life of aliveness & vitality then your grief needs ritual, it needs practice and it needs to be able to move.

Last summer I had the joy of hearing Robin Wall Kimmerer speak. Someone asked her… where do we find hope? Her response was; you lot need to learn how to grieve first.
I was in the middle of training as a therapist during that time and I knew then that this is what I wanted to offer the most support in. My own grief is my constant partner, I am in relentless relationship with it and through this I am becoming more alive, experiencing more joy while also and most importantly having a deeper capacity for the pain of these times. My grief makes sure my action stays rooted in love. My grief supports me in staying engaged & connected.

It’s not what we should be avoiding, it’s what we should be running towards.

And that’s why I want to start offering regular grief circles because this work is not meant to be in isolation.

This is a space where you can gather with your fellow humans, to bear witness to one another and be held.
No grief is too big or small, you might be aware of your grief or maybe not but perhaps the above is calling to something in your body?

This space will be held therapeutically, with a somatic offering, space to share and listen and also to discuss how we can deepen our relationship to our grief which is ultimately just our love and animacy through practice.

The layout of the session…

7pm we will begin with a somatic landing to come together.
7.10pm I will share some boundaries or ingredients for care, so we can look after one another during the session.
7.15pm we will have sharing. There is never any obligation to share you can just be present to listen.
I will also always offer feedback if you want it. No feedback will be offered without consent, you might just want to be heard.
You can also ask questions and we can discuss how we can build practices & ritual for our grief.
8pm we will close.

who is this for?

This is for anyone who is alive in this world right now.
This is for anyone who wants to remember their aliveness in this world right now.
And this is for anyone who has a heart that beats, blood that pours and lungs that breathe.

Your Space giver…

Ami Robertson (they/them): Trauma informed somatic therapist and embodied movement practitioner. I have a deep curiosity for life, the mystery and our human experience. Most of my work is walking alongside people as they explore their trauma, grief and do the great work of meeting themselves. I work with many modalities, from somatic therapy to embodied movement. I love working with individuals and groups, gathering people to explore to the arts of remembering & reclaiming. My work is in line with the cyclical nature of life, deepening into the relentless truth of death & rebirth.
